About the Soundtrack
Back Lot Music will digitally release the Nope Soundtrack on July 22nd. Jordan Peele's latest psychological horror comedy-thriller will be composed by Michel Abels, who has also previously composed the music for Peele's first two features, "Get Out" and "Us". It will also be accompanied by an edition vinyl soundtrack, which will be released by Waxwork Records. Nope is written and directed by Peele and stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott and Brandon Perea. The film is centered in an area from California's interior, where strange and frightening discoveries for a group of residents, start to take place. The music from Nope follows a similar theme to Peele's other films, with a variety of songs that help set the scene, alleviating tensions and lulling the viewers into a false sense of security. Michel Abels original score plays a huge role in the overall feeling and helps to generate a sinking sense of dread, tension and general unease for the majority of the film. The other credited songs from Nope include mostly upbeat bears, from relatively unknown artists such as The Congos, Gowan, Exuma and Dionne Warwick.
